Not a Joke: Iranian Sailors to be freed by UAE

In one of the most ironic stories of the year, apparently Iranian Sailors are having some trouble navigating.. The United Arab Emirates picked up 12 Iranian Sailors in an area north of the Gulf island of Abu Musa. Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scheduled to go to UAE for talks---at which time the Iranian Sailors will be freed. Here is an excerpt from Xinhua: 

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will free 12 detained Iranian sailors on the eve of a visit by Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the Gulf Arab state, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Wednesday. "On the occasion of the visit of the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the UAE has decided to release the 12 Iranian sailors who were arrested in its economic waters", said the report. The visit would be the first by an Iranian top leader to the UAE. But the report did not disclose the exactly date of Ahmadinejad's visit.

On Tuesday, an Iranian Foreign Ministry official was quoted by Iran's ISNA news agency as saying that the men were detained by the UAE in an area north of the Gulf island of Abu Musa. The Iranian official described their detention as "completely illegal". Abu Musa is one of three disputed islands between the UAE and Iran, the island is controlled by Iran.
